Safer Neighbourhood Groups

Safer Neighbourhood Groups bring together a range of officers from local agencies and residents' representatives on a monthly basis to plan action to tackle local issues of crime and anti social behaviour.

There are currently 15 groups in total covering the whole of the city.

These are supported by West Midlands Police and their neighbourhood Policing Teams for Coventry. These are overseen by the two Inspectors for Coventry;

North East & West - Inspector Jo Floyd

St Michaels & everything South (from & inc Westwood, Earlsdon, Wainbody, Cheylesmore, Binley & Willenhall - Inspector Al Orencas

A map outlining the boundaries of Safer Neighbourhood Groups (SNGs) can be downloaded from this page.

At these meetings information about local residents' concerns and incidents are shared to ensure swift action is co-ordinated between agencies.

SNG Timetable 2011

They enable elected members and chairs of residents or tenants associations (many of whom are community Empowerment Network members) the opportunity to highlight their concerns, give information and help plan action.

Residents who want to have their issues raised at their local SNG are asked to pass on their concerns to their elected member or local Neighbourhood Policing Team, etc, who will be able to raise it on their behalf.

SNG's make use of a standard agenda format which requires feedback on all actions at the following meeting.
