Active Intelligence Mapping system
Active Intelligence Mapping - or AIMs - brings together agencies like the Police, Neighbourhood Management, Fire Service, Neighbourhood Wardens, Traffic Wardens, Youth Services, CVOne, the Environmental Crime Unit and others to co-ordinate activity in current crime and anti social behaviour hotspots.
AIMs meets to coordinate a forward planning approach to the allocation of Partnership resources on a seasonal basis, taking current information on reported crime and incidents to identify where the biggest problems are concentrated in Coventry and considering how patterns of crime and anti-social behaviour change across the calendar year. AIM's looks to tackle things like:
- burglary
- vehicle crime
- violent crime (including robbery)
- enviro-crimes
- arson
- anti social behaviour and criminal damage
A range of activities are deployed into these hotspots - depending on the nature of the problem - including:
- extra patrols from police, neighbourhood wardens, traffic wardens and other street-based uniformed staff to help provide a visible presence and gather local information
- portable and temporary surveillance equipment to help capture evidence against offenders
- additional youth workers to provide young people with positive, diversionary activities
- publicity, leaflets and other resources to give information to residents
