Extended police family

Coventry is policed by officers from West Midlands Police, one of the best performing forces in the country. There are around 750 officers working out of the three main police stations in the city - Little Park Street, Chace Venue and Stoney Stanton Road.

In addition to PCs and other officers, Coventry has:

  • 75 Neighbourhood Wardens, employed by the City Council, who patrol areas, report incidents and issues and liaise closely with residents. The wardens are also responsible for removing abandoned vehicles.
  • Police Community Support Officers, employed by West Midlands Police. PCSOs are uniformed officers who provide patrols in neighbourhoods and support police. Most PCSOs are part of Neighbourhood Policing Teams. A number are funded by the City Council to patrol anti social behaviour hotspots.

Coventry also harnesses the vigilance of other street based staff like traffic attendants, firefighters, street sweepers and others who are able to be agencies' 'eyes and ears' in communities.
